Who he is

Tristan Tate is a British-American former professional kickboxer, the younger brother of Andrew Tate, and the operational partner in the businesses that built the Tate brand. ^[2] By their own account, he co-ran the brothers' webcam pornography business, and the December 2024 UK tax ruling treated the pair's revenues — from ventures including Cobra Tate, OnlyFans, Hustlers University and the War Room — as jointly theirs. ^{[11] [7]}

He is a co-defendant in every major criminal proceeding against his brother: the Romanian trafficking cases, the UK charges, and the extradition proceedings that followed their July 2026 arrest in Miami. ^[2] He denies all charges in every jurisdiction, and nothing has been proven against him in any criminal court. ^[10]

The concluded matter on his record is civil, not criminal. In December 2024, Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring ruled at Westminster Magistrates' Court that Devon and Cornwall Police could seize about 2.6 million pounds from the brothers over undeclared revenue of roughly 21 million pounds between 2014 and 2022, finding "long-standing, deliberate conduct in order to evade their tax"; because the claim was civil, this is a finding on the balance of probabilities rather than a criminal conviction. ^[7]

The July 2026 expansion of the second Romanian case file added the most serious individual accusations against him to date: prosecutors allege he deceived three women about romantic feelings between 2018 and 2021, sexually exploited them and coerced pornographic content, intimidated 11 witnesses, and illegally sold a luxury vehicle; the brothers are together accused of exploiting a 17-year-old through videochat accounts. ^[6] These are unproven allegations at the investigation stage, and the brothers deny all allegations against them. ^[10]

Legal status

In brief: he was detained in Romania with his brother at the end of December 2022, moved to house arrest in March 2023, and indicted on 20 June 2023 for human trafficking and forming an organised criminal group — charges he denies. ^[4] In December 2024 the Bucharest Court of Appeal returned that case to prosecutors over procedural flaws without dismissing it, and a second Romanian case file, involving alleged trafficking of minors, remains under investigation following the expanded accusations announced on 3 July 2026. ^{[5] [6]}

In the UK, he was charged in May 2025 with 11 offences relating to one complainant — including rape, human trafficking and actual bodily harm — following a Bedfordshire Police investigation into alleged offending between 2012 and 2015, and on 19 July 2026 the CPS announced further charges against him: two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, within an alleged offending window of July 2010 to August 2017. ^{[3] [1]} He denies all charges. In March 2024 a Romanian court had ruled the brothers could be surrendered to the UK once the Romanian proceedings conclude, and their spokesperson said they "categorically reject all charges and express profound disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence". ^[8]

The brothers left Romania for Florida in February 2025 under a monthly police-reporting obligation, and Florida's Attorney General announced a criminal investigation shortly after their arrival; no US charges have been announced. ^[9] In mid-July 2026 both were arrested in Miami by the United States Marshals Service on the UK extradition request; their attorney called the charges "filth and slander" and said he was confident extradition would be refused, with the final decision resting with the US Secretary of State. ^{[2] [10]}
