About this site
Privacy
This site is built to know as little about you as possible. It runs no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking scripts — a content-security policy blocks external scripts outright — so there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to for ordinary reading. You can read every page without an account, without being profiled, and without leaving a trail we keep.
What we never collect
- No analytics or telemetry. We do not run Google Analytics, Plausible, pixels, fingerprinting, or any behavioural tracking. We do not record what you read.
- No third-party embeds that phone home. No ad networks, no social widgets, no external fonts or scripts loading from other companies.
- Nothing extra on the Help hub or crisis pages. As a permanent commitment, the Help and crisis pages carry no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Someone looking for support is not an audience to be measured.
The little we do collect
- Newsletter email (only if you subscribe). If you enter your email in the newsletter form, we store it to run a double opt-in (a confirmation click) and to send the newsletter. We never sell or share it, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe that removes you immediately.
- Your IP address, transiently, to stop abuse. Like any web server we briefly process the requesting IP address to rate-limit spam and abusive traffic (for example, on the newsletter and search endpoints). It is not linked to your identity or used to build a profile.
- An account, only if you deliberately create one. The optional login sets a session cookie so you stay signed in. Most readers never need an account; the reference content is entirely public.
Your choices
Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any issue, or write to the desk (see Contact) to ask what is held about your email address or to have it deleted. Because we keep no analytics and no reading history, there is nothing else to export or erase.
Changes
If this policy ever changes — for instance, if privacy-respecting, cookieless traffic measurement is ever added outside the Help hub — this page will say so, and the commitments above will still hold. See also Funding & independence and How we verify.
