Editorial standards

These standards are binding on every page. Where a page and these standards conflict, the standards win and the page gets corrected.

1. Citation or silence. Every factual claim about a named person carries an inline citation to a primary or reputable secondary source. No source, no sentence.
2. Allegations are allegations. Unproven claims are always attributed and qualified — "charged with", "alleged", "denies". This holds no matter how widely an allegation is reported, and it holds for people we cover critically.
3. Public figures only. Private individuals are not identified. Lived-experience material (exit stories, partner accounts) appears only with informed consent, under pseudonyms, with identifying details altered and marked as altered. Forum and subreddit material is paraphrased, never quoted verbatim — exact strings are searchable and can deanonymize their authors.
4. Victims centered. Coverage of violence follows journalistic norms: no manifesto hosting, no perpetrator glorification, no standalone perpetrator index, names de-emphasized in titles and URLs.
5. No routes in. We never link to active manosphere forums, channels, servers or course checkouts. We describe; we do not signpost. No influencer video is ever embedded.
6. Harm-aware language. Slur-class terms are documented for identification with explicit harm context and no neutral usage examples. Entries touching self-harm-adjacent practices (extreme dieting, steroid use, facial "improvement" techniques) never include how-to detail.
7. Both sides of the ledger. Legitimate grievances get treated as legitimate, with sources. Weak claims get called weak — whichever direction they come from.
8. Right of reply for living profile subjects, offered before publication and recorded.
9. Public corrections. Material errors are corrected in place and logged on the corrections page.
10. Independence. See funding. We accept no money from any person, platform, course or community we cover.
