To his audience, Cooper is a straight-talking guide rather than a provocateur — a man who says aloud what dating and money advice usually softens. The strongest honest version of Cooper's appeal is not the harder claims about women; it is the demand to take responsibility. To a man after a divorce, a layoff, or years of drifting, his message — that how you manage your health, your money and your choices is largely within your control, and that comforting lies help no one — is the kind of thing a candid mentor might say. Stripped of the theatrics, "stop deceiving yourself, get your finances and fitness in order, and be honest about what you want" is advice most people could act on.
