Blanc is where pickup artistry collided with the wider public. In November 2014 a #TakeDownJulienBlanc campaign spread after a video he posted, with critics alleging his seminars taught coercive and abusive tactics; within weeks his visa was revoked in Australia and he was refused entry to the UK and Singapore. ^[1] Blanc told CNN the material was "a horrible, horrible attempt at humor" taken out of context, while Australia's immigration minister said "he was putting forward abuse that was derogatory to women". ^[1]
